For odors near the toilet bowl be sure the wax ring seal that seals the toilet from the drain is doing it's job by trying to move the toilet bowl from side to side. It should resist several pounds of force, however if the toilet bowl moves easily, then the wax ring may have failed.

For blocked bathroom drains pour some bleach down the drain and let it sit over night. In the morning pour a couple of kettles full of boiling water down the drain and this should break up the blockage.

All household drains have a trap placed between the sewer and your home. This trap should always be filled with water, because this water acts as an odor barrier between the home and sewer. If the trap dries out, sewer odors are allowed to enter the home. Often, simply pouring water into a little used drain, such as a floor drain in the basement, will recharge the trap with water and effectively restore the odor barrier.

Smelleze(R) Bathroom Deodorizer Pouches are very efficient at eliminating (not just covering up) foul odors from urine, feces, bacteria, mold and mildew leaving your bathroom smelling clean and fresh. Simply hang the convenient reusable Smelleze pouch on the side or back of the commode or some other convenient place and smell the difference. To rejuvenate, simply heat in a microwave 2 to 4 minutes or place in direct sunlight for a day and reuse.
